What is going on in testing communities?

Every week, we are going to collect vigorous discussions from different software testing communities. Believe us or not, the full range of emotions is here: joy, fear, anger, hesitation and persuasion, condemnation and shame, endorsement and support, but the most important – a great deal of curiosity!

From now on, you don’t need to subscribe to dozens of groups and channels – everything the most important will be on our blog. Follow the Software Testing Talks Facebook group and r/softwaretestingtalks Reddit community to get our weekly discussions lists directly to your feed.

Here are the most active discussions of the last week:

šŸ’¬ What’s ONE piece of testing advice for your younger self? >> check the discussion in Reddit r/softwaretesting community.Ā

Our favorite answer:

šŸ’¬ Is coding necessary? I have 14 months of experience as of now, with manual & automation functional, non functional. I tried multiple times, but I can’t learn coding. I hate it. Would this create an issue in long run? How to switch to devops? >> check the discussion in a r/softwaretesting Reddit community.Ā

Our favorite answer:

manual testing

šŸ’¬ Should testers have the freedom to choose testing tools and frameworks? If so, when/how? >> check the discussion in a r/softwaretesting Reddit community.Ā

Our favorite answer:

testing tools and framoworks

šŸ’¬ General Question: As a QA manager what kind of metrics would you request from QA member who is embedded in a sqaud/Team ? or as QA member what kind of metrics would you provide to your QA manager? >> check the discussion in a Ministry of Testing Slack community.Ā

šŸ’¬ That all could be weird as hell, but I’ve beed reading that “Permutations city” by Greg Eagan. And it strikes me very peculiarly thatĀ in theory all this Blockchain ( Ethereum especially ) could be just like a fabric to build a calculation for sort of another plane of reality. And I am not high, just in case. >> check the discussion in a Tech Masters Slack community.Ā

šŸ’¬ Has anyone implemented a test management tool for a manual testing team that wasn’t using one previously? Any tips on implementation/metrics that are generally useful once the team starts using the tool? Or just general thoughts on documenting manual test cases? >> check the discussion in a Modern Testing Slack community.
